Jungle Carpet Python Cake

Description

My friend Kim's birthday is today. She's been wanting to get a jungle carpet python for a while, but due to the sheer number of reptiles she currently has (and the lack of space), she can't get one yet. So I decided to "buy" her one. Hee hee. I'm going to play it up as much as I can that I bought her a real python. Muah ha ha ha ha.

Ingredients: cake, icing, Reese's Pieces (eyes), black licorice (tongue).

I used a box cake mix (chocolate, of course) and split it evenly between two round cake pans. Once those cooled, I stacked them on top of each other with a layer of icing between to act as "glue." I used my fist to cave in the center of the top cake, and then I iced the entire thing in white icing (black probably would've been better), making sure to not cover the curves of the individual cakes (to make it look like a snake coiled up). I then outlined the coils with black icing using a large, round tip, and used the same tip for the head and tail. A leaf-shaped tip was used to make the scales. Finally, I added two Reese's pieces for eyes, cut a small piece of black licorice to look like a forked tongue and stuck it at the front of the snout, and poked the nose with a toothpick to make the heat pits (sensory organs that allow snakes to see infrared light).

Voila! Snake cake!
