Critiques
The symmetry in the wings is very successful - they match, though seem natural in their inconsistencies from one another.
The amount of emotion can be seen most in the face and position of the head, giving the piece a serene, almost heavenly feel, successfully matching the description of an 'angel', as well as the overall pose aiding in this depiction. The white drapery flowing out to either side and behind the dragon almost give the sense of another, more ethereal pair of wings; the draperies have a very nice, weightless feel.
This piece would be more eye-catching if it had more contrast, both within the subject itself and in relation to its background (perhaps a heightening of contrast within the subject would allow it to spring away from the background on its own merits), but overall, this work is a success. A small issue I hold is with the anatomy of the shoulders and wing-shoulders, but important details could be hidden behind the white robes. I enjoy this work the most because of its pose and the execution of design within the drawing, which is its strongest point. Well done!
