Something happened about midway through the game that left me extremely saddened and feeling sorry for my poor character. I wrote a little short story about it after playing through that part, and then last night, I decided to put it in picture form. Those who have played the game may recognize this view from a certain area of the docks.

I spent about one-third of the game wearing what I thought was rather hideous armor, and of course, this happens to occur at that time. Ugh. I hated that outfit.

This was not meant to be anything other than a getting-the-emotions-out artwork. It wasn't meant to be exceptionally good; in fact, it was supposed to be just a quick 'n' dirty thing.

The following little excerpt from the short story I wrote will explain what happened in-game.

None of it seemed to matter anymore, though. He had failed—completely and utterly. He allowed his younger brother to be killed by darkspawn right in front of his eyes shortly after leaving Lothering. And then, while he was off gallivanting around the Deep Roads, looking for treasure, his sister had been discovered as an apostate mage. He returned home just in time to see the Templars take her away. And now...now Mother was gone, killed by the very person he had been investigating for murder. Oh, yes, his little adventures helped the family move from his uncle’s hole in the wall to their former estate in Hightown, but what was it to him now other than a huge, empty house?

His vision turned outward again, gazing at the reddish southern horizon, toward the only home he’d ever known. Maybe they should’ve stayed in Ferelden. Maybe if they had, they’d all still be together. Fighting with his jealous little brother and struggling to keep his sister’s talent hidden seemed so wonderful now. So...simple.
