BG - Everything will be Okay

Slevik did not often speak of his past, and when he did, the anecdotes were rarely pleasant. He seemed to have much more than his fair share of tragedy. Despite knowing the trials made him who he was, she always wished she could have eased that pain, somehow.

She couldn’t do anything about what happened before, but she could do something now. Ivy reached out and wrapped her arms around his bare chest, gently pulling him to her enough so that she could rest her head on his shoulder. To her surprise, he didn’t shy away. His eyes were closed and he still seemed sad, but she felt him relax a little and even lean into her embrace.

This image popped into my head one day early last month, and it continued to pester me until I came up with a little story where this scene occurs. (The above is an excerpt from the story, which I would be willing to post if people want.) I finally decided to attempt drawing the scene last week...and...well, here we are. It occurs the evening of their wedding day, which, for those who've played BGII, ended up being the day before the party returned to Athkatla to battle Bodhi. Also, if Slevik seems a bit older than he should be, there's a reason for it. At one point, he was forced to give up something in order to continue; I don't remember what the other options were, but the one he chose aged him/shortened his lifespan.

I'm surprised at how well this turned out! Once again, I blew my previous "best people" drawing out of the water. I took my time and used a ton of reference images, both of which helped dearly. I'm still not completely happy with Ivy's clothing, but it's not terrible. The hardest part, though, was definitely the hair. Ivy's isn't too bad (I tried to make it shiny since she has silver hair), but Slevik's looks like he inverted a mop and plopped it on his head. Oh, well. Practice, practice.
